Parent Letter

This week we have been working hard learning about many different subjects. One of the things we have been learning about is plants. We have learned what is in a plant cell like chloroplasts, cell wall, and nucleus. Each of us made a slide with onion peels and looked at the cells. The cells looked really cool! They looked like squares. We also learned that plants can make their own food by doing photosynthesis. Now our class is making plant posters. Each of us in our group has a part we are working on. The parts are plant cells, diagram of a plant, lifecycle, and photosynthesis. Another subject we have been working on is poetry. We went out to the football field and took pictures of things we wanted to write about. The next day we wrote prose, sentences, telling about our picture. Then yesterday we started writing our poem. Now we are finishing the poem and publishing it. Finally we have started to plan for our conferences. Most of us are ready to talk about math and reading. Next week we will finish and be ready to talk with you about what we have been doing all year. This is what we have been doing this week.

Thanks for reading,

Parent Letter

April 17, 2009

Dear Parents,

Today we are very tired of the WASL. Our class took four tests. We had two tests in reading and two tests in math. Math was easier than reading. We think we did better in math than reading because reading had pages and pages and pages of reading. Math didn’t take as long. We spent at least two hours a day taking the different tests.

Our class also continued to learn about rocks. We learned about mineral called calcite. Calcite is really cool. If you put it into vinegar it bubbles and chips off. We are going to be finished studying rocks and now we are going to start to learn about plants.

One other thing. Our class almost had everyone bring back their homework. Our goal is to have everyone return their homework each day. Please help us make sure our homework is being completed.

Now you know what we did this week. Yeah, WASL is over!!!!!!

Sincerely,

Your WASL Tester

PS Make sure you return the field trip forms ASAP. Thanks

4/3/09

Dear Mom and Dad,

Can you believe we are all rock stars. It's true check out our blog. We have done other things this week besides becoming rocks stars read on to find out what they are.

First, this week was interesting because many of our classmates were sick. It was so hard because many of us had to be all by ourselves at our tables. People were coughing and having high temperatures. It was a disaster!

Next, we made a music video. The music video was about continents. You can look at it on the blog.

Finally, we almost started another photo point. But right before we went out to do it someone pulled the fire alarm and we had to go outside. The firetruck came and now someone is in big trouble.

In conclusion we had a very strange week because so many kids were gone but we still learned some interesting stuff.

Sincerely,

Your Spring Break Kid

PS

WASL starts the week after spring break. Review is available on the OSPI web site.

Winter Weather

I am going to tell you about my favorite weather.I think that winter weather is the best out of the four seasons. Winter is a wonderful time of the year because there is snow.Once I was getting ready to go out into the snow and I went to my cousins. My cousins and I got on their trampoline. I got snow off of the trampoline, made a ball, swung my arm and I threw snow at my cousins. It was cold if you got hit with the snow ball. The second reason winter weather is my favorite, is because you can smell the fresh snow. When you go out into the winter weather you can smell the fresh snow. The smell of snow is like the smell of rain to me. Snow smells good in the winter. Now you know about the wonderful time of the year and my favorite weather!!

Continent Song

Dear,Sir

Dear Sir,

Come to are beautiful New Jersey colony and enjoy the good life. You will enjoy it for many reasons.

When you come you will see we have many jobs for you. When you will come to New Jersey you will be able to make ships, grow big crops, and whale fish. If you like to make ships you are in luck. Do you like to grow crops? Do you like tobacco because if you do you are in luck!

The weather in New Jersey is awesome. August is the warmest mouth in the year the temp is 80 degrees. You shooed bring shorts and a tee short for the summer. Also bring a couple of blankets for the winter.

New Jersey is located in the perfect place. New Jersey is on a peninsula. It lies between the Hudson and Delaware river. To the south of New Jersey is Delaware. Now be prepared for some hard time. Lots of us died because of the bad water. Some of us died from of getting sick. Now you know about the New Jersey.

Winter weather

Snowy winter weather is awesome! I’m going to tell you how cool it is! First I’m going to tell you the best things about skiing. Skiing is a fun sport. Sometimes I try to do helicopters off jumps and try to get paid…sort of… I also like doing face plants because I like to pull off practical jokes, like the rope tied in the hallway. Now I’m going to tell you about sledding… I call it the ouch sport. Sledding hurts! Do NOT go off jumps seriously you’ll fly right off the sled. One time me and Ethan did the exact same thing …lets just say that was not the best day of our lives. WARNING: NEVER SLED WITH MORE THAN 2 PEOPLE, YOU MIGHT GO TO FAST AND FALL OFF. Now you finally know how to have a good winter.

Winter weather

Winter weather is awesome. I’m going to share why weather in winter is awesome. First I like the ice! It is so fun to slide on. I want to go ice fishing some day. And I have seen people camping on ice! On a lake. Also I have gone to the Town Toyota Center and gone iceskating . I also like playing in the snow. So I going to tell you how deep of snow I have seen or played in. I have seen snow above the tippy thingy above the door. It was so deep. I have played in snow to my knees and I am 4.0 feet tall. It was fun. Now you know why I think winter is amusing.

Winter weather

BY Cole

Winter weather is the best weather in the world! I am going to tell you two reasons why winter weather is so exciting. One of the reasons winter weather is so awesome is because you can go to the ski hill. When it snows you can go to the ski hill and snowboard. You can only do this when the ski hill is open. It is the best ever.
It is also exiting because you can go sleding at the ski hill. On their hill that is for sleding. Sledding is very awesome to do with a friend on a tractors’ air tube from the tire and it will go very fast! Trust me. If you wax it it goes at least as fast as an air fors jet. Another reason winter weather is awesome is because you can go sledding almost wherever you want. Sledding is fun because you
can go off of jumps of any size. For the record you can get hurt really bad if you crash. Sledding is also awesome because you can ride them any way you want too. The only thing you can’t do with them is ride them on the road because it will ruin the bottom of your sled. My favorite way to ride is to get a snowmobile, and hook the sled to the snowmobile with a rope. Then you let the snowmobile pull you when you are on the sled. Now you know what I think about winter weather.

Summer weather

Did you know that I love the summer weather? Well it’s true. I do love the summer weather for several reasons. First of all I like the summer weather for the sun. I like when the sun feeds the young plants and helps them grow. I also love the sun when it’s warm in the sizzling heat and when the sun dries you from the cold water.
I enjoy the cool water too. When you get hot you can cool off in the water. Like there was this time when I was so hot my feet were burnd so I climd in the pool as fast as I could. Also if you need something to drink. Drink water because its good for you. Just like my mom always yelled when I wanted soda she said I needed water and now I know how important water is.
Now you know why I think the summer weather is so great because the sun and the water!

Winter Weather

The reason I love winter the best is you can snowboard. I enjoy the snow flying up in my face when I’m shredding back and forth. The feeling of riding my teeny tiny snowboard is like skating. Another reason winter is because you can have snowball fights. It feels good to hit someone with a snowball. One thing I don’t enjoy about snowball fights is when you get hit. Now you know why I like winter weather so much.

Winter Weather

Have you ever thought about how fun winter weather is? I will tell you two reasons why winter weather is exciting. One reason is because there is ice. Ice is awesome. You can do a lot of stuff like ice fishing. I have never tried that but I would love to drill the hole with a drill into the ice. Another reason ice is so enjoyable is because you can ice skate. Ice skating looks wonderful and I hear it is awesome. Finally there is skiing and snowboarding. I like to do both. But right now I am going to tell you about skiing. It is fun to ski. I love to rush down the hill with the winter breeze. Now I will tell you about snowboarding. Snowboarding is great you can feel the winter wind on your face. Now you know why winter weather is so exciting
